Another Day in the Life
I am back doing my old job today and tomorrow while the regular receptionist is out of town. I must say that I absolutely hate being at the front desk now. Walking casually to the bathroom or down the hall without worrying about the phone ringing totally has me spoiled. I have never liked answering the phone anyway. Funny, huh? I was a receptionist for 7 years. Even now in Customer Support, I do more phone work than I would choose for myself. I’ve decided that I should never be allowed to talk to customers. :)
I spent a very pleasant day with Trudy Barnes last Saturday. She is my friend from way back. We have been through a lot together. We went for a lovely walk, had breakfast, sang and played songs with and for each other, and talked and talked and talked. Then we watched one of my old favorite movies, Broadcast News, which she had never seen. I showed her pictures of my favorite grandchild and looked at pictures of her eight favorite grandchildren, including a set of twins. She gave me a book by Byron Katie to read and I am three quarters of the way through it now. Another self help book… Maybe this time I will get the insight I need.
My sister, Norma, is planning to buy my mother’s house probably before the end of next month. Since the house is part of my parents’ family trust, I will be receiving one ninth of whatever money Norma pays for it. That will give me some much needed funds to pay off some back taxes from 1999 and to do some more improvements on my house. Hopefully, I will be able to get a gutter on it before winter comes. Perhaps this year you won’t all have to slip and slide your way to the front door when you come to see me. I have even looked into getting a playground set to put in the backyard for my grandchildren. My imagination goes wild with ideas when there is money waiting in the wings. It is so fun to spend it several times over in my mind.
I’m looking forward to having Allison and Steve come to visit next weekend. We have plans to see Amanda’s dance and to just hang out with the family. It should be fun. Wesley, I have been reading the Kodiak Daily Mirror online for a while now. I know all about the ship loaded with cars from Japan that filled with water and forced the crew to abandon ship. Have you watched “K-Pax” yet and did you like it? Have you had a chance to read The Happiness Hypothesis? How did your radio interview with Geoffrey go?
Well, not much is going on right now in my life, so I will end here. I love you all.

I havan't seen K-pax either. :) Maybe we should watch that sometime since I awlays make you watch movies that I recommended.
I know you would like it, Chelsee. Let's make a date!
Steve and I are really looking forward to coming up next weekend!
Also I wanted to let you know that I finally made Giant Burger for Steve, and it was a GIANT success! He really liked it!
I haven't watched K-pax yet, I'm sure it is around here somewhere... I've read several chapters in the happiness hypothesis though.
The past three weeks I've been covering for other people at work who have been on vacation, just like you. It has been really difficult to do my job and someone else's. On Friday I was covering for two people in addition to myself.
Mom, I think it's the cutest thing that you're thinking about a play set for Kameryn and Isaac. Even though they won't be able to play on it for a couple years. :) Me and Danae are gonna have to drag our kids home after being at your house with a grandma who loves them so much.
Hoo-ray for Allie and Steve coming up! And a hip-HIP HOO-RAY for the playground idea. :) What a sweet little momma you are!
